Conditions d'utilisation

Terms of Service — last updated May 29 2026.

The deal

By using Gazou you agree to these terms. They're written in plain language because nobody reads the lawyered version anyway. If anything here conflicts with the law that applies to you, the law wins.

Who can use it

You must be 16 or older to register. Gazou is for adults learning French — usually because someone they love speaks it. It is not for children to use directly.

Your account

  • You're responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your password to yourself.
  • One human, one account. Don't share logins.
  • We may suspend an account that's being used to spam, attack, or burn through credits at obviously-not-human rates.

What you can do with the app

  • Learn French. Save phrases. Use the tutor. Listen, repeat, role-play, drill.
  • Use the content for your own learning. Don't republish the curriculum, audio, or generated explanations elsewhere. The vocabulary lists, sentence sets, and recordings are ours.

What you can't do

  • Scrape, reverse-engineer, or wrap the API for resale.
  • Try to identify other users from anything you encounter on the platform.
  • Use the tutor to generate disallowed content (child sexual abuse material, instructions for weapons, etc.). OpenAI's usage policies apply here through us.
  • Misuse the partner-invite feature to spam or harass.

AI-generated content

Translations, grammar explanations, and the tutor's responses are generated by AI. They're usually good but sometimes wrong. Treat them as a smart classmate, not an authority. We're not liable for inaccuracies in AI-generated text.

Audio + voice

Audio is generated using OpenAI's TTS. Voices are synthetic — they don't represent specific real people. You may use the generated audio for personal learning. Don't redistribute it as a standalone product.

Service availability

We try to keep Gazou running but can't promise 100 % uptime — this is currently a small project on small infrastructure. We'll do our best to give notice before scheduled maintenance.

Pricing

Gazou is free during the beta. If we introduce paid plans later, we'll tell you in advance and existing accounts keep working under terms agreed at signup until you upgrade or stop using.

Liability

We provide the service "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Our maximum aggregate liability for any claim is the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim (currently zero for the beta).

Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or anything that can't be limited under your local law.

Termination

You can delete your account any time from Settings → Account. We may terminate accounts that breach these terms, with notice unless the breach is severe (e.g. abuse).

Changes

We'll update these terms when the service changes. If a change materially affects you, we'll surface a notice in the app and bump the date above. Continued use after a change means acceptance.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved in the English courts unless your local consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings locally.
